Claude Artifacts and Perplexity Pages/Labs solve different problems. Artifacts are in-conversation live canvases for code, React components, Mermaid diagrams, .docx/.xlsx/.pptx/.pdf renders, and AI-powered mini-apps users can interact with. Perplexity Pages are published long-form articles; Perplexity Labs is the closer analog for canvas-style multi-artifact outputs (spreadsheets, dashboards, mini-apps). Migrating an Artifact to Perplexity: regenerate the same brief inside Labs; for a publishable writeup, use Pages.
- Warning: Artifacts can embed live Claude API calls (turning them into AI apps); Pages and Labs outputs are static after publish.
- Warning: Artifacts now persist (20 MB each) and support Live Artifacts that refresh data on reopen - Pages have no scheduled refresh.
- Warning: Labs has a low monthly cap on Pro (~50/month) per third-party reporting; Artifacts have no separate quota beyond plan message limits.
- Warning: Pages can be indexed by search engines after publish; Artifact share links are public but not designed for SEO.
Both products generate a public link for a single conversation via a Share button in the top-right of a thread. To migrate a shared workflow, regenerate equivalent share links on the destination product. For long-form public artifacts, Claude users typically share an Artifact link (one canvas) whereas Perplexity users publish a Page (article-style).
- Warning: Claude share links hide attached files and raw MCP/connector tool outputs in the snapshot - only the chat text is public.
- Warning: Perplexity share links expose full thread including cited sources.
- Warning: Claude has no team-wide thread-level collaboration on shared links; Perplexity Spaces support inviting collaborators with viewer/contributor roles.
- Warning: Either side can revoke by toggling Public > Private; review/revoke at Claude Settings > Privacy and Perplexity Settings > Account.
Both products ship a default-on cross-conversation memory that extracts durable facts (role, tools, preferences) every ~24h. Toggle at Claude Settings > Capabilities > Memory and Perplexity Settings > Memory. To migrate, dump Claude's memory list, paste the equivalent into Perplexity's AI Profile, then let Perplexity rebuild structured memory over time. Use Temporary Chat (Claude) or Incognito (Perplexity) for sessions you don't want remembered.
- Warning: Claude Memory rolled out default-on in March 2026 and is available on Free; Perplexity Memory is also on Free+ but is more tightly scoped to preferences and surfaces citations to each memory item in answers.
- Warning: Claude search-across-chats (chat history search) is on Max/Team/Enterprise; Perplexity Library search is on every plan.
- Warning: Memory contents are not portable - no export. Manual copy via the memory management UI is the only migration path.
- Warning: Claude does not store full transcripts in memory (only extracted facts); Perplexity Library DOES store the full thread.
Neither product has a ChatGPT-GPTs-style assistant marketplace. The closest equivalent on Claude is a Project with custom instructions, attached files, and optional Skills (filesystem-based reusable workflows). On Perplexity it is a Space with custom instructions, attached files, and a pinned default model. To migrate, recreate the persona instructions in the destination's project/space and re-upload files; skip Skills (Claude-only) or translate them into longer Space instructions.
- Warning: Claude Skills (SKILL.md + scripts) have no Perplexity equivalent - workflow logic must be flattened into prose instructions.
- Warning: Perplexity Spaces can be made multi-user/team-visible; Claude Projects sharing is gated to Team/Enterprise.
- Warning: Neither product offers a public marketplace or directory for these assistants.
- Warning: Claude Styles (per-conversation tone presets) have no Perplexity equivalent; you must encode tone in the Space's custom instructions instead.
Both ship a long-running agentic research mode that spawns parallel sub-searches and returns a cited report. Activate Claude Research via the Research toggle in the prompt bar (paid plans only). Activate Perplexity Deep Research via the mode selector. For repeated long-form research, Perplexity's higher daily caps and built-in source filters typically win; for tight integration with Projects/Skills/Artifacts, Claude Research is better.
- Warning: Claude Research is Pro+ only; Perplexity Deep Research is on Free (3-5/day) and high cap on Pro (~500/day per third-party reporting).
- Warning: Run times differ: Perplexity Deep Research ~2-4 minutes, Labs 10+ minutes; Claude Research can run 5-30+ minutes depending on query depth.
- Warning: Output format: Claude Research writes into an Artifact; Perplexity Deep Research renders inline with a structured report and can be promoted to a Page.
- Warning: Neither product exports the underlying search trace in a portable format.
Both support PDF/DOCX/XLSX/CSV/PPTX/TXT/MD plus images in chat. For one-off Q&A on a document, upload to a thread in either product. For persistent reference material, attach to a Claude Project or a Perplexity Space. Migrating reference libraries: download from one Project/Space and re-upload to the other - there is no direct import path.
- Warning: Per-file cap: Claude ~30 MB; Perplexity 25-40 MB consumer / 50 MB Enterprise (varies by surface).
- Warning: Perplexity also natively ingests audio and video files in threads; Claude does not accept audio/video uploads as of May 2026.
- Warning: Perplexity thread uploads auto-delete after 7 days; Space files persist. Claude Project files persist until you remove them; chat-only uploads live as long as the conversation.
- Warning: Claude Projects use RAG retrieval (relevant chunks fetched on demand); Perplexity Space files are searched per-query as a knowledge base - long documents may be summarised before going into context in both products.
Copy the free-text from Claude Settings > Profile > 'What personal preferences should Claude consider in responses?' into Perplexity Settings > Profile > 'About me'. Both apply globally to every non-incognito conversation and are available on the free tier. Keep instructions short and declarative (role, tone, format preferences) since neither product enforces structured fields.
- Warning: Claude also has Styles (Formal/Concise/Explanatory + custom-uploaded writing samples) - Perplexity has no per-message style switcher, only the global 'preferred response format' field on the AI Profile.
- Warning: Perplexity's AI Profile also captures location and preferred language as separate fields; Claude folds everything into a single text blob.
- Warning: Neither product version-controls or diff-tracks the preference text - edits silently overwrite.
Rough tier mapping for individuals: Claude Free <-> Perplexity Free; Claude Pro $20/mo <-> Perplexity Pro $20/mo; Claude Max 5x $100 or Max 20x $200 <-> Perplexity Max $200/mo; Claude Team $25-150/seat <-> Perplexity Enterprise Pro $40/seat; Claude Enterprise (custom) <-> Perplexity Enterprise Max $325/seat. Pro-tier price-point parity makes individual migration straightforward; enterprise pricing is hard to compare without quotes.
- Warning: Claude Max gates Opus 4.5/4.6/4.7 and Claude for Chrome; Perplexity Max gates Opus 4.5/4.6 access inside Perplexity and Comet model selection - similar idea, different products.
- Warning: Perplexity's Pro tier exposes multiple frontier models (GPT-5.2, Gemini 3 Pro, Grok 4.1, Sonar, Kimi K2) - migrating from Claude Pro to Perplexity Pro broadens model access; migrating the other way collapses to Anthropic-only.

Claude Projects and Perplexity Spaces are functionally near-equivalent containers: both group threads, persistent files, and a project-scoped system prompt. Migrate by recreating the Project's custom instructions in a new Space's 'Custom Instructions' field and re-uploading files. Spaces additionally let you pin a default model and toggle web/connector sources at the Space level - Projects do not expose model selection per-project.
- Warning: Claude Projects on Free are limited to 5; Perplexity Spaces are available on Free with reduced file caps.
- Warning: Claude Projects file cap: ~30 MB per file, unlimited files with RAG retrieval. Perplexity Spaces: 50 files (Pro), 500 (Enterprise Pro), 5,000 (Enterprise Max).

Both expose a connectors directory for read/write access to SaaS tools. Overlapping connectors: Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive, GitHub, Notion, Slack (Claude), Outlook, Linear (Perplexity Enterprise). Manage at Claude Settings > Connectors and Perplexity Settings > Connectors (perplexity.ai/account/connectors). Claude's connector layer is built on MCP and has 375+ integrations - meaningfully broader than Perplexity's ~12 native connectors.
- Warning: Claude Slack connector launched Jan 26 2026 (Pro+); Perplexity has no native Slack connector as of May 2026.
- Warning: Perplexity gates file-store connectors (Drive/SharePoint/OneDrive/Dropbox/Box) to Enterprise Pro/Max; Claude exposes Google Drive on Pro.
- Warning: Both can take write actions (send email, create issue/PR, update Notion doc) - confirm OAuth scopes carefully when migrating.
- Warning: Perplexity has a Plaid finance connector for portfolio sync that Claude does not offer.
Web search on Claude is an opt-in tool (Settings > Capabilities > Web search, then toggle the '+' Web search button per chat) layered on top of a chat-first product. Perplexity inverts the model: every query is a grounded search by default, with mode selector for Search / Pro Search / Deep Research / Labs. If you migrate from Claude to Perplexity, expect richer citations and source filters (web/academic/social/finance/video); migrating the other way, expect to manually enable web search and lose the focus filters.
- Warning: Claude web search is free for all plans as of 2026 but is OFF by default per workspace on Team/Enterprise until an Owner enables it.
- Warning: Perplexity always cites sources inline; Claude cites only when web search runs and citation quality is less consistent.
