Both support public share links for individual chats/threads. Gemini share links (g.co/gemini/share/...) are snapshots that may be continued by recipients (unless from a Gem or by under-18 users). Perplexity shares are similarly snapshot links but recipients cannot continue. For real collaboration, Perplexity Spaces (viewer/collaborator roles, email invites) is more capable than anything Gemini offers - Gemini has no multi-user editing primitive. Perplexity offers Gmail, Google Calendar, Notion, GitHub (Pro) plus Linear, Outlook, and file-store connectors Drive/SharePoint/OneDrive/Dropbox/Box on Enterprise Pro+. Migrating a Gemini-Workspace-heavy workflow to Perplexity Pro means losing Docs/Sheets/Slides/Maps/YouTube/Tasks integration entirely. Going to Perplexity makes sense when the user values Notion/Linear/GitHub native actions or a non-Google file store.

Gems are a true GPT-style assistant builder (name, persistent system prompt, Knowledge files, premade gallery of 10,000+ public Gems). Perplexity's closest equivalent is a Space configured with Custom Instructions plus attached files - it behaves like a reusable persona inside Perplexity but is not a discrete 'assistant' object and has no public marketplace. To migrate a Gem to Perplexity: create a Space, paste the Gem's instructions into Custom Instructions, re-upload the Gem's Knowledge files, and pick a default model. Going the other way (Perplexity to Gemini) is cleaner because Gems is the richer construct.

For high-volume, model-tuned image work (especially with the Nano Banana series' editing features) Gemini wins; on Perplexity, image gen is a convenience layer on top of someone else's model.
