Udio capabilities
5 mapped capabilities, each graded and dated. The map shows what Udio can do; the audit shows whether it’s worth consolidating — and a guide shows how to move.
Capabilities
Audio upload, extend, remix, and inpainting
canonicalverified todayBeyond text prompts, Udio can take an uploaded audio clip (or a track from the user's library) as the seed and create, extend, remix, restyle, or selectively regenerate it. Inpainting lets a user select part of a waveform and regenerate just that section using the surrounding context.
Download and export status (audio, video, stems)
canonicalverified todayAs a result of Udio's partnership/settlement with Universal Music Group, downloading of audio, video, and stems has been disabled. Generated songs currently live inside Udio's environment and cannot be exported off-platform, a constraint introduced during the transition to a licensed platform.
Ownership and commercial-use rights
canonicalverified todayUdio does not claim ownership of the content a user generates from their inputs -- the user owns the output. Commercial use is permitted, but attribution requirements differ by plan tier.
Plan tiers (Free / Standard / Pro) and credit limits
canonicalverified todayUdio gates usage through three subscription tiers with monthly credit allowances. Credits do not roll over -- any unused monthly credits are forfeited at the end of the billing period -- while separately purchased a la carte credits never expire.
Text-to-music generation
canonicalverified todayUdio generates a complete, mixed song -- vocals, instrumentation, and lyrics -- from a single natural-language text prompt describing genre, mood, and theme. Each generation produces two candidate songs as raw high-fidelity audio rather than MIDI.
