Migrate from Fathom to Fellow.
2 documentation-derived translation patterns — what carries over and what to watch for. Cited to the Feature Parity Map; the audit tells you whether the move is worth it.
Fellow's AI meeting notes and Fathom's AI summaries do the same job: both auto-generate a structured post-call write-up (summary, decisions, action items) and both let you shape the output per meeting type with templates. To consolidate onto Fathom, recreate each Fellow note template as a Fathom summary template: Fathom ships 15+ (Team Edition exposes 17) built-in templates including General/Enhanced plus sales frameworks (BANT, Sandler, SPICED, MEDDPICC), customer success, demo, one-on-one, interview, retrospective, and project update, and Premium/Team users can set per-template custom instructions ('Apply to Future Summaries'). After each call Fathom writes the summary and action items automatically, replacing Fellow's post-meeting summary + suggested action items + topic-based minutes. Keep Fathom; cut Fellow.
- Warning: Fathom's Free plan only runs advanced AI summaries (the full template library) on the first 5 calls per month — after that you fall back to the General/Enhanced template; unlimited templated summaries require Premium or above. Fellow's note caps differ (Free = 5 lifetime/user, Team = 10/user/month, Business/Enterprise unlimited), so map seats to the right Fathom tier so heavy note-takers don't hit the monthly cap.
- Warning: Fellow's AI action items can sync directly into project-management tools (Asana, Monday, Jira, Linear, ClickUp) as tracked tasks with owners/due dates (see node:fellow/action-items); Fathom centers action items inside the summary and its CRM sync rather than that PM-tool task push, so if your workflow depends on auto-created Jira/Asana tasks, plan a replacement (e.g. a Zapier/automation step) before cutting Fellow.
- Warning: Non-English summary translation in Fathom (Spanish, Portuguese, German, French, Italian, Dutch) is a Team Edition feature, whereas Fellow markets broad multilingual notes more widely; if non-English summaries matter, confirm the Fathom tier covers your languages.
- Warning: Before cancelling, export any Fellow notes you need to keep (Export as Word Doc / Google Doc, or email/Slack), since the summary text itself is not migrated into Fathom and export can be disabled by a workspace admin.
Fellow and Fathom are the same kind of tool: both auto-join your calendar to record and transcribe Zoom, Google Meet, and Microsoft Teams, and both produce a speaker-labeled, timestamped, searchable transcript for every call. A team already on Fathom can drop the standalone Fellow seats and capture everything in Fathom instead: connect Fathom to the same Google/Microsoft calendar so its notetaker auto-joins the meetings Fellow used to, and let Fathom transcribe post-call. For calls you don't want a visible bot in, use Fathom's bot-free desktop app (the Fathom 3.0 capture mode) the same way you used Fellow's botless desktop capture. Before turning off Fellow, bulk-export the Fellow recordings/transcripts you must retain — from a meeting's video view, the top-right export gives you the video, the transcript, or the full recap, and notes can also be pushed out as a Word Doc or Google Doc — because cancelling Fellow does not migrate that back-catalog into Fathom. Keep Fathom; cut Fellow.
- Warning: Fellow exports per meeting (one-click video / transcript / recap, or Export as a Word Doc / Google Doc), not as a single bulk archive — and a workspace admin can disable the download option entirely, so confirm export is enabled and budget time to pull the back-catalog before you cancel, since Fathom will not import Fellow's history.
- Warning: Fellow's bot-free desktop capture runs on both Mac and Windows; Fathom's bot-free desktop app is fully live on macOS but the Windows build is still in gradual rollout (the what's-new changelog lists it under 'Coming Soon' even though a Windows download link exists), so verify the Windows app is available to your PC users before relying on bot-free mode across the team.
- Warning: Fellow advertises automatic detection and transcription across 99 languages with no manual selection; if your team relies on heavy multilingual transcription, validate Fathom's language coverage and accuracy on your actual call languages before cutting over.
