Migrate from Gamma to Magicslides.
2 documentation-derived translation patterns — what carries over and what to watch for. Cited to the Feature Parity Map; the audit tells you whether the move is worth it.
MagicSlides' PDF/Word-to-presentation flow is covered by Gamma's 'Import' creation mode. Instead of uploading the PDF or DOCX to MagicSlides, click 'New with AI' in Gamma, choose 'Import', and upload the same PDF, Word (.docx), PowerPoint, Google Slides/Docs, or paste a URL — Gamma extracts the text into editable cards (one card per slide or per heading) and styles it with a chosen theme. This retires the standalone MagicSlides document-to-PPT tool; keep Gamma as the single deck generator.
- Warning: Gamma's import brings in TEXT ONLY — styling and layout from the source document do not carry over, so the deck must be re-themed manually or via AI after import (MagicSlides instead produces a pre-laid-out Google Slides/PPTX deck directly).
- Warning: If an upload fails in Gamma, the documented workaround is to re-save the source as .docx or .pptx first, or copy-paste the text directly; MagicSlides accepted PDF/DOCX uploads natively up to a 50 MB / ~20-page ceiling.
- Warning: Imported source files draw from the same Gamma AI credit pool (40 credits per creation), so converting many documents consumes Gamma credits.
Replace MagicSlides' topic-/text-to-deck step with Gamma's AI generation. A MagicSlides topic or pasted text maps directly to Gamma's 'Generate' mode (topic) or 'Paste' mode (existing text); use Advanced Mode to refine the outline before generation. To carry over decks a team already built in MagicSlides, download them from MagicSlides as PowerPoint (.pptx) and bring them into Gamma via 'Import' mode, then re-export to PPTX if the deck still needs to live in PowerPoint or Google Slides. Keep Gamma; cancel the MagicSlides subscription once the active decks are recreated or imported.
- Warning: MagicSlides creates natively into Google Slides and downloads as an editable .pptx; Gamma builds a gamma in its own card-based editor, so you must export to PPTX afterward to get a Slides/PowerPoint file, and exported gradients/fonts may not render identically.
- Warning: Gamma's import only carries over TEXT — styling and layout do not transfer, so an imported MagicSlides deck arrives as plain editable cards that must be re-themed manually or with AI.
- Warning: Metering differs: MagicSlides uses a credit/plan model capped at up to 50 slides per deck, while Gamma charges 40 credits per AI creation from a monthly balance — heavy regeneration burns Gamma credits faster.
- Warning: Both apply a free-tier watermark; confirm the destination Gamma workspace is on Plus/Pro before relying on watermark-free exports.
