Setup steps
Work through these in order. Check each off as you go; your progress is saved on this device.
Sign in at claude.ai. Since you run Gems daily and Deep Research weekly, you'll want a paid tier: Claude's Research (the Deep Research equivalent) is paid-only. Claude Pro ($20/mo, or $17/mo annual) maps roughly to your Gemini AI Pro tier; Max 5x ($100) and Max 20x ($200) add headroom. Pro is the natural starting point for this fingerprint. Verify current pricing in the Claude UI before subscribing.
Plans and pricingIn Claude, open Settings and find Connectors. Enable the first-party Google Drive, Gmail, and Google Calendar connectors — these are MCP-based and use login-only setup, so you authorize with your Google account and Claude can then read/search those sources in chat and Research. This preserves your "draft and summarize in context" Workspace dependency. Note: Claude reaches into Workspace through these connectors rather than living as a side-panel inside Docs/Gmail like Gemini does — verify the connectors appear and authorize correctly in the UI.
A few things to confirm
We flag these up front so nothing surprises you — a short list to double-check in Claude as you go.
- 14 items are flagged to confirm in Claude — check the menu paths and field names as you go.
Paste-ready assets
Workflows from Gemini, rewritten to paste straight into Claude.
PROJECT NAME: [same name as your Gem] PROJECT INSTRUCTIONS (paste into the Project's custom instructions): --- Role: [paste the Gem's persona/role line here] Task: [paste what the Gem is built to do — the recurring job] How to respond: - Be concise. Lead with the answer, then supporting detail. - Keep a professional tone. - Use the uploaded knowledge files as the primary source; cite or quote them when relevant. - When information isn't in the knowledge base, say so before answering from general knowledge. Output format: [paste any fixed format the Gem enforced — headings, bullets, table, length cap] --- KNOWLEDGE BASE: re-upload the exact same files you attached to the Gem's Knowledge section (PDFs, docs, text). Start every chat for this job from inside this Project so they share the knowledge + per-Project memory.
- Claude has no Gem/GPT builder — a Project covers instructions + knowledge; if your Gem also ran a fixed procedure, package that part as a Skill.
- Claude Projects support up to 20 files / 30 MB each (PDFs ~32 MB or 100 pages). If a Gem held bulk files or large videos, that may exceed Claude's per-conversation limits.
- Memory is scoped per Project, so context won't bleed between your re-created Gems — a difference from Gemini's account-wide past-chats personalization.
Same-day walkthrough
This sample was built for an example user. Yours gets built around how you work.
A 15–25 minute interview captures your workflows, then the guide is generated for you — same structure, your prompts, your projects, your gotchas. Nothing in your stack is changed or cancelled by any of it.
