Migration
Migrate from pdf-ai to claude.
1 documentation-derived translation pattern — what carries over and what to watch for. Cited to the Feature Parity Map; the audit tells you whether the move is worth it.
Recreate a PDF.ai 'chat across my library' workflow as a Claude Project. Create a Project, upload the same PDFs into its knowledge base, and ask questions in any chat inside the Project; Claude answers grounded in the uploaded files across the Project's context window, replacing the per-document upload-and-ask loop. For one-off single-document questions, attaching the PDF directly to a normal chat is the lighter-weight equivalent.
Gotchas
- Warning: Claude Projects exist on free accounts (capped at five projects), but the enhanced project-knowledge retrieval (RAG) that makes 'chat across my whole corpus' work well is limited to paid plans (Pro, Max, Team, Enterprise); a Project also has a finite context window, whereas PDF.ai markets much larger upload allowances, so a very large PDF corpus may not fit a single Project.
- Warning: Claude grounds answers in the uploaded files but does not surface PDF.ai-style answers linked back to the exact page of the source PDF; you may need to ask Claude to quote the supporting passage to verify a claim.
