Migrate from photoroom to ideogram.
1 documentation-derived translation pattern — what carries over and what to watch for. Cited to the Feature Parity Map; the audit tells you whether the move is worth it.
Recreate Photoroom's background-replacement and object-cleanup workflow in Ideogram's Canvas. Upload the product photo to Ideogram Canvas (editing uploaded images requires Plus or higher), then use Magic Fill to mask the background and prompt a new scene in place of Photoroom's AI Backgrounds / Product Staging, and Extend to widen the composition or hit a new aspect ratio. Object removals done with Photoroom Magic Retouch become Magic Fill masks regenerated to match surroundings. For programmatic catalogs, Ideogram's API also exposes Replace Background and Remove Background endpoints that mirror the Photoroom cutout-then-restage flow.
- Warning: Ideogram is a general text-to-image and creative-canvas product, not an e-commerce suite: it has no AI Shadows, Virtual Model, Ghost Mannequin, batch catalog workflow, or direct Shopify publishing, so those Photoroom steps have no equivalent and must be handled elsewhere.
- Warning: Magic Fill holds pixel density constant for the generation window, so large background fills can come out lower-detail than Photoroom's targeted product-staging output.
- Warning: Photoroom's free tier can remove backgrounds (capped monthly exports, not for commercial use); in Ideogram, editing an uploaded image and Magic Fill require a paid plan (Plus or higher), so the free-tier cutout workflow does not carry over.
