Migrate from Eclinicalworks to Artera.
2 documentation-derived translation patterns — what carries over and what to watch for. Cited to the Feature Parity Map; the audit tells you whether the move is worth it.
Artera ScheduleCare and eClinicalWorks both let patients self-book online 24/7 against real provider availability, so a practice on eClinicalWorks can drop the standalone Artera ScheduleCare add-on and move scheduling into healow Open Access: patients book from the practice website, the Patient Portal, or the healow app, seeing providers' real schedules and either booking a slot directly or requesting one for staff confirmation. Keep eClinicalWorks/healow (Open Access reads and writes against the eClinicalWorks practice schedule, so the slot lands on the same provider calendar used for documentation, orders, and billing with no double-entry); cut Artera. Per-provider control over how much schedule to publish replaces Artera's slot-exposure configuration.
- Warning: healow Open Access requires each provider to publish availability and pick book-directly vs request-only; budget that setup before retiring Artera or no online slots will appear.
- Warning: Artera's automated waitlist/earlier-slot backfill has no exact Open Access equivalent — plan to re-create it via healow reminders/campaigns or accept its loss before cancelling Artera.
- Warning: Move any branded ScheduleCare booking link/widget on the practice website to the healow Open Access entry point so external scheduling traffic is not stranded.
- Warning: Confirm the practice's healow patient-engagement suite includes Open Access self-scheduling (not just the portal) before cutting Artera.
Artera and eClinicalWorks both run secure two-way patient messaging, so a practice on eClinicalWorks can retire the standalone Artera Harmony contract and move conversations into the eClinicalWorks Patient Portal and the healow app: patients send secure messages straight to the clinic, the thread is linked to the patient's record in the EMR, and staff triage them in the chart on their own schedule. Keep eClinicalWorks/healow (the system of record where a reply or refill request becomes part of the chart and can drive orders and billing); cut Artera. The portal/healow secure-messaging inbox covers the routine patient texting Artera previously carried, with the conversation documented in the EMR rather than copied back from an outside app.
- Warning: Artera reaches patients over SMS/text/voice/email including those who never log in; healow messaging is portal/app-first, so confirm portal/healow enrollment and a notification path before cutting Artera or some patients lose contact.
- Warning: Artera is multilingual (100+ languages) by default; validate the eClinicalWorks portal/healow language coverage for your patient mix before the cutover.
- Warning: Re-point EHR-triggered outreach (appointment prep, care-gap, follow-up) Artera fired via API/FHIR/HL7v2 onto eClinicalWorks/healow-native messaging and reminder campaigns so those sends do not silently stop.
- Warning: Confirm the practice's healow patient-engagement stack (portal + healow apps) is licensed/activated for messaging before cancelling Artera.
